Texture and acne marks

Different marks need different plans.

Post-acne discoloration, shallow texture, and deeper indented scars are not the same concern. Your first decision is not simply which device to book—it is which type of mark you are addressing and what level of improvement is realistic.

What you may notice

  • Rough or uneven surface texture
  • Enlarged-looking pores
  • Flat red or brown marks after breakouts
  • Shallow or deeper indented scars
  • Active acne alongside older marks

What may influence it

Scar type, active inflammation, skin tone, sensitivity, prior treatment, healing history, and sun exposure can change the plan. One person may need more than one approach, sequenced over time.

What assessment clarifies

The provider separates color from texture, assesses whether acne is active, reviews how you heal, and considers whether the concern belongs within the clinic’s scope. Active or medically complex acne may need dermatology care first.

Possible pathways

Concerns orient. Treatments explain. Consultation decides.

May be discussed for superficial discoloration, congestion, or roughness.

Medical Microneedling

May be discussed for selected acne scars, uneven texture, or fine lines. Improvement develops gradually and often requires a series.

Fractional Laser Resurfacing

May be considered for more persistent textural change when the skin is suitable and a longer recovery window is acceptable.

Common questions

Can pores be permanently closed?

No. Treatments may make pores look less noticeable by improving oil, congestion, or surrounding texture, but pores are normal structures and cannot be permanently erased.

How many microneedling sessions will I need?

That varies with the concern, depth, response, and device. A series is often discussed for scars or persistent texture, with review before extending the plan.

Can treatment remove acne scars completely?

Complete removal is not a responsible promise. The goal is usually meaningful improvement in how visible or uneven the scars appear.
